Lea-Sophie

Hello my name is Lea-Sophie and I am already 3 years old! For me it was very difficult to find my diagnosis and my parents were with me in many hospitals and many physicians. The rescue helicopter had to make an emergency landing in our garden often because of my severe hypoglycaemia with seizure, at times almost every week!

But then I was on vacation at the Baltic Sea and was once again a hypo. We had to very quickly as an emergency to the nearest district hospital. And there happened to be a very young assistant physician, who had recently co-supervised in Greifswald, a child who had been operated on by Prof. Barthle. He had by this - is rare disease hyperinsulinism and recommended as the first stop the Professor Mohnike in Magdeburg - admittedly. There, a genetic study was made which was typical for a focal form! I was also sent to the PET-CT in the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Center Frankfurter Tor in Berlin. In addition to the doctors there and my parents were also from Magdeburg and Prof. Prof. Mohnike Barthle of Greifswald in the investigation there. First saw the PET-CT looks like a diffuse form, but after 2 hours of painstaking work finally succeeded to the specialists in the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Center, the focus in the middle part of the pancreas found. Thus the chance for complete healing was given by a surgery! And so it happened: the next day's trip to Greifswald, where the laparoscopic removal of the same focus, two days after the operation fit! After 9 days, we were then cured and discharged home my parents have not felt a measure of blood sugar more. I am so glad that we did that and my parents did not let other parents feel insecure. Namely who have phoned us and warned of an operation and discouraged us seriously! They did not even know that in a modern surgery in Greifswald, only a small portion of the pancreas is removed, a diabetic so that later can not occur! If my parents had listened to such advice, I'd still ill and would often call an ambulance, but now I'm healthy and can hypoglycemia and generally forget all my sickness!
